Family Photos

Our cousin Laura was so kind and did our Family photos for us this year. I was loving all the pretty colors in the trees and wanted some pictures before all the leaves fell off and the snow started coming in! So a few Saturdays ago she met us at the park near our apartment and took some photos of us. Lyla wasn't too excited about it, but luckily we were able to get some taken before she got too upset :)

And I know you probably saw this on Facebook, but I love the Pinterest comparison I did of the one pose I wanted done. It definitely didn't turn out how I thought it would, but I think I like it even better this way :)

Month 3

Well it looks like I am down to only blogging once a month. Blah. I wish I was better at it so I can remember all that happens each month, so hopefully I can remember everything that has happened this past month. But first off, I want to say that my baby girl is 3 months old now! I can't believe how time is flying by. She is getting so big and interacting more and more each day. It's so fun!
October was a busy month. Chris worked the evening shift from 1pm to 10pm, so I had a lot of quiet evenings. Lyla goes down about 7pm, so I had a few hours to myself. I have watched a lot of Super Nanny, browsed thebump.com and pinterest, and baked zucchini bread. :) But I am glad he has finished that and he doesn't have to do it during the holidays like last year.

I went to the dermatologist last month to get a spot on my neck checked out. It was a spot that I thought it was some sore, but it never healed. It kept bleeding and got bigger. So it ended up being a Basal Cell spot. So I went in and had it removed a couple weeks ago. It's nice to have that gone, cause it bugged me everyday!
Halloween was fun. The day before Halloween was our ward's Trunk or Treat that I really wanted to take Lyla to, but unfortunately that day she would not nap for the life of her, and by the time 6pm came and I had her all dressed up in her costume, she was the fussiest, maddest baby ever, so I decided to put her to bed instead. :( I am glad I at least got a picture of us! Haha

Halloween night I took Lyla to Chris's cousins house Tyson and Laura and hung out with them and their kids. We ate dinner, I got to see their girls in their cute costumes, and we got to just sit and visit while waiting for trick or treaters to come to their door. And Lyla was really good which made the night even better. :)
Lyla has continued to grow so fast every day. She is laughing more and more. Talking louder and louder. She definitely knows who her mommy and daddy are. She is loving her little exersaucer. She can't quite jump in it yet, but she loves being in the upright position and will move the toys to make the music start and the lights light up.
I love the faces she makes sometimes. She is my sweet, cute girl!

2 Months!

Lyla turned 2 months old yesterday! Seriously, time is flying by and I can't keep up! September was a pretty exciting month. Of course we had her blessing as you saw in the last post. Also, every year now Chris and I get to celebrate our Anniversary and my Birthday one day after the other. :)

Our Anniversary is on the 17th. That morning when I woke up, I walked out to the kitchen and Chris had left me a lovely surprise! There was a huge balloon, red roses, a card, and a gift certificate for a massage. He did good! :)
That afternoon Lyla and I went and took some Burger King to Chris at lunch time as a surprise! Chris loves Burger King. :) Anytime he can have Burger King he will get it. It was nice to see where he works and have lunch together.

That afternoon after Chris got off work, we went over to Target for a little bit. My feet had grown since being pregnant and so I was in great need of shoes that fit! I was getting tired of wearing flip flops all the time. haha I found these cute ones.
For dinner I made Chris's favorite meal, Chicken Carbanara! It was a nice relaxing evening with my little family. :)

The next day was my birthday! I went to work in the morning and did some hair for a friend. Then for lunch I went to Johnny Carino's with Esther, Lette, Karma, and Melissa. It was so yummy!
Spent the afternoon snuggling my little baby while Chris went and got his root canal taken care of. That night we went to Red Robin for dinner with some of our friends. I think it had been over a year since we had been there, and it was so good! I definitely ate way too much, but it was totally worth it. :) I can't believe I am 28 now!

Our Lyla is growing more and more everyday. :) She is smiling so much and interacting too! She smiles, coos, and loves to kick her legs and move her arms. We went to the doctor today for her check up and she now weighs 10 pounds 12 ounces, exactly 4 pounds gained since she was born! She also got her shots which was so sad to see her get. She has been so sad all day, mostly sleeping, only waking up to eat and give her some Tylenol. Hopefully she will feel better tomorrow. :( Here is her 2 month photo! Plus some other random shots of her. :)

Blessing Day

I am sitting here waiting for the second loaf of Zucchini bread that I have made today to finish baking. I am kind of obsessed with zucchini bread lately. I have made about 5 loafs in the past week, and I may or may not have eaten MOST of them myself.....I left some for Chris too. :) But I LOVE it so much! I have a couple of blog posts to catch up on and Lyla is sleeping, so I figured this is the perfect time. Poor girl got her shots today and has been very sad. It makes me sad that I can't take away her pain! But I gave her some Tylenol, wrapped her up and put her in her swing and she was out. :(
Last Sunday was Lyla's Blessing Day! It was a really great day. Chris had a bunch of family come in town from various places. His grandparents, aunt, and uncle came down from Canada. His sister came from Provo, and a few cousins from Salt Lake! Then many of his family from Rigby came as well as some of our good friends who have always been there for us.

My mom and Esther went in together and bought Lyla her dress. It has lace, ribbon, and is so beautiful. I found a super fun headband to go with it as well. It was so fun to dress her that morning! She looked perfect. :)
We felt very loved when we walked in the chapel and saw all of our friends and family there for us. I wish some of my family could have been there as well, but I know that it's hard when we live so far away from each other. My mom and Bethany were here when Lyla was born and that meant much more to me. Chris did a beautiful job on her blessing and she didn't cry at all. :) It was cool cause we had 2 other baby blessings in our ward after ours. There were so many people in our ward that day and it just felt so special to be in that room.

After Sacrament we all went over to Esther and Jared's for a big yummy lunch. Esther made Ham and funeral potatoes, and then everyone contributed some sort of salad. Chris loves this vegetable salad I make where I put a bunch of cut of fresh vegetables (bell peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, corn, olives, broccoli, cauliflower) and put sour cream, ranch dressing mix and lemon juice on top. It's pretty good, so that's what we contributed. We were hoping the weather would be nice so we could eat outside, but you know Idaho weather, so unpredictable and windy! So we had to fit like 40 people inside their house, but fortunately it worked out pretty well! It was so nice to see everyone and get to visit. What a great day! Thank you to everyone who were a part of our baby girl's special day. We love you!
Haha, had to move all the layers of the dress when I went to change her diaper :)

Lyla's First Month

Life has been CRAZY since we brought Lyla home from the hospital. I am so behind with blogging, and I need to get it done before I forget things that I want to remember! Her first month was busy, fun, stressful, and awesome all at the same time. :) I was a little nervous once all our visitors left and Chris went back to work cause it was just going to be me and Lyla most of the time. I was scared I wouldn't know how to take care of her and just be a terrible mother. But, fortunately things have just worked themselves out and I am loving my life as a mommy.

About 9 days after she was born her eye got really red and swollen with lots of pus coming out of it. We took her to the doctor and found out it was a clogged tear duct. It made me so sad seeing her like that.  The doctor gave us some ointment to rub on her eye, but I found out that squirting breastmilk in her eye was a lot more effective. It cleared up in 2 days!

She is a pretty good sleeper during the day. She loves her naps. Night is a different story. We have good days and bad days. I have been trying to get her in a good routine and try to help her sleep better at night, but of course everyday is different and sometimes it doesn't go like I would like. Hopefully it will all even out, right? :)

We are so in love with our little girl. We are having so much fun watching her grow and seeing her personality come out. She absolutely hates baths and riding in the car. She screams so loud you would think we were torturing her! haha I am hoping that changes as she gets a little older.
I got her newborn photos done when she was about 11 days old, and it was so much fun! It was really cool to see how they are done. They definitely take a long time to do (it took about 3 hours for hers), with lots of calming her down, and moving very slowly to keep her asleep and relaxed. But she did great and I love how her pictures turned out!

Here she is at 1 Month! Now I have more week till she turns 2 months and have to do another post! Hopefully I will be more on top of things for that one. :)
