Week 2!!

Well it's Wednesday and we all know what that means!!! Another week down of my Beyond Fitness class and our weigh in day! I want everyone to know that I have really been kickin butt with the whole counting calorie thing. I have tried doing the counting points thing with Weight Watchers before, and that was hard, but this just seems more practical to me. I don't know....I am really able to see food and know how many calories are in it and make better food choices. It's great! I was driving down the street the other day after one of my clients and was really craving chocolate. I could not get it off my mind. Some people who are stronger than me would either stick a piece of gum in their mouth or drink some water or try to think of something else, but not me. When chocolate gets in my mind, it's pretty difficult to think of anything else. Haha And so because I had been doing really well with not having a lot of sweets, I pulled into the next gas station and scrounged my car for some change. I went in the gas station and (seriously I really did this) picked up each candy bar, turned it over, and looked at how many calories were in each one! :) It was a long process and different than what I usually did which would be grab the first Reeses I see and go (which I must add is one of the MOST calories! :), but I found a Dove chocolate bar with almonds that had reasonable calories, tasted pretty dang good, and satisfied my craving for the rest of the day.
Anyway, I could really go on and on about everything I am learning and changing in my life and how great it has been for me, but I will get down to what you all are waiting for. My results of my weight in tonight. I feel like I am on The Biggest Loser, wondering what my weight loss is gonna be (even though I do weigh myself on my own scale everyday, it's just so different having my trainer do it at the club), yet I am the only contestant and there is no doubt who is going to win: ME! :) Well, I am proud to announce that this past week I have lost a total of: 3.5 pounds! Which makes it a total of 6 pounds in two weeks! Yay! I have noticed a little bit of a change in my body, but not THAT much. Yes, there is a little more room in my pants, but only a little bit. I think I am gaining a lot of muscle which is taking the place of the fat, so that is nice too. So yeah. I am seeing some good results! I will prevail!!! Haha And of course, here is a picture of how much I have lost:
A laptop :)

Michael Scott: No, no, no. I don't wanna hear moaning. This is a good day. You guys accomplished something big. You lost a ton of weight, literally. A lot of weight. And I don't care what any stupid scale says, you guys are all gigantic losers.

Snow Buddies!!

It has snowed SO MUCH in the last couple of days, non-stop! I really don't mind snow unless I am having to drive in it, or walk in it wearing a skirt. Today after church I decided to go play in it a little bit with Sami cause he was just giving me this look like he gets no attention at all from anybody (yet I am pretty sure he gets the MOST attention out of everyone in the house). Sami is so funny out in the snow. His beard and his feet always get so snowy and then he will track it inside making puddles everywhere he goes. But it was fun. For about 3 minutes. :) Then I had to go inside cause it was cold. But here are a few pics of the snow, and Sami, and me. I realized I hadn't really put any pictures of me on my blog in a while....so here you go if you have forgotten what I look like.

This is how I feel about the snow:
Me and Sami:
Our backyard!:
Sami's snow beard:
and Me!
Paris: Really comin' down out there. Commute's gonna be hell.
Dwight: I have snow tires and chains. Plus exceptional hand-eye coordination.
Paris: So um, where were you workin' before this?
Dwight: Dunder-Mifflin.
Paris: What kind of company is that?
Dwight: [scoffs] Paper company. They're only one of Staples' top competitors in the area.
Paris: I never heard of 'em.
Dwight: Whoa. Really? Have you heard of paper?
Paris: You gonna be like that, huh?

Week One Down....

Okay so I have made it through my first week of my Beyond Fitness class! And I must say, I am pretty pleased with my results so far so this class is gonna be worth it! But only IF I stick to the guidelines! :) I think I will though since I am already seeing results. I am proud to announce I am down 2.5 pounds in my first week (I really wish we were being weighed in the morning though instead of at night...that would make my results look better. Haha)! So, if I stay consistent like this, I should reach my goal week in 12 weeks. Wow, that sounds like an extremely long time....ugh. But it will be good cause I will adopt good healthy habits and be able to keep it off! Yay! Oh don't worry....I will definitely be blogging about my success each week. :)
Oh and for all you visual people, here is what 2.5 pounds looks like:
Yes, I have lost a small Maltese. :)
Stanley: I happen to be losing weight on my own for my own reasons. The truth is... I have lost a little of my speed, a little of my fire. Here's what I used to look like. [holds up photo] Look at those biceps. We were fightin' the power and eating whatever we wanted.

Potpourri

This post may seem a little random, a little all over the place, a little unorganized, but I have so many things going on in my mind right now, I need to get it all out, and sometimes the best way is to write. This might be for my own benefit, but hopefully you enjoy reading it too.

First off, there are 3 things I have decided as of 10:52pm on January 18th, 2009: 1) I will be starting the C.N.A. program in May here in Idaho Falls at the Eastern Idaho Technical College and following that going into the Licensed Practical Nurse program. It's gonna be awesome. 2) I am a great person, with many talents, and I don't need a guy to make me happy! 3) 2009 is going to be the BEST YEAR EVER! (and this is why...)

I am making many changes this year, going to achieve many goals. First off, I am taking a class at The Apple Club where I work called Beyond Fitness. It's an 8 week program. I get to learn about nutrition, and calorie intake, and taking care of my body. I also get a personal trainer and she is going to be helping me learn new workouts and make me STRONG! :) Better watch out everybody! So far it's been pretty good. We got all our measurements done (weight, body fat, inches, etc.), and so we get weighed in every week and then half way through we do all our measurements again, and then again at the end of the program. I also have to count calories. That is NOT EASY! I have realized though how much I used to eat that I don't need! So it's been pretty good. I hope to see some great results. I will make sure to clue all of you in on them!
Next, I am finally removing myself from credit card debt! No more will those little plastic cards haunt my life. They sneak up on you and take over your thoughts and dreams and actions like nobody's business and I will not allow it anymore! :) Then, of course you already know about my new career choice....wish me luck on that!
Also, I am going to be HAPPY! I have had a really rough week and have not felt very happy about many things. But I want to try to get through my trials with more positivity. Everything happens for a reason and so for those things you have no control over, we need to learn and grow from them instead of focusing on the bad. Lastly, I am going to be a better daughter of God. I went to this fireside tonight and it was on "How to be Steadfast and Immovable in a Troubled World." Let me tell you, it was AMAZING. That was written just for me I swear. This is a very difficult life, but we won't be able to get through it without our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. We must stay near to Him in all we do, Pray, Read our Scriptures, Attend our church meetings, Pay our tithing, Be honest, and Serve others. It's like what President Hinckley said,
"Like the Polar Star in the heavens, regardless of what the future holds, there stands the Redeemer of the world, the Son of God, certain and sure as the anchor of our immortal lives. He is the rock of our salvation, our strength, our comfort, the very focus of our faith." I feel very blessed to have the gospel in my life. I would not be able to get through anything without it.

Well, those are just a few of my thoughts that have been on my mind all day long and now that I have gotten it all out, I feel much better and now I can go to sleep. :)

Phyllis:[slams door] Are you insane?
Andy:Hey hey, what happened?
Phyllis:There was no client. Dwight drove me to an abandoned warehouse 5 miles away and pushed me out of the car. I had to walk back with no purse and no phone.
Dwight Schrute:And you burned over a thousand calories walking home, and this branch just got little bit closer to winning the contest. Phyllis Vance ladies and gentlemen! [Dwight claps]

The Apple

I just wanted to tell everyone about my new job I have. Well it's actually a second job. I am still doing PSR work, but also doing a part time job on the side. My friend Stephanie who I live with is the manager of the member services at the local Apple Athletic Club and she hired me two weeks ago to work the front desk there! It has been pretty intense the last couple weeks trying to learn everything, working crazy training hours (like from 4:00am to 8:00am!), and not working myself too hard that I go crazy. But I am very happy with my decision to get a second job so I can keep myself busy, pay off some debt that has piled up over the past 4 years, actually get to start a savings account! Some of my job requirements include checking people in that come through the door, scheduling tanning and raquetball courts and massage appointments, taking care of account payments, making protein shakes, and making sure every member is happy and have enough towels to use to wipe off their sweat. :) But it is really a lot of fun and I get to meet a whole lot of people! So if you are ever in town, come visit me! If you are lucky I will put up a picture soon of me in my cute uniform. Haha

Pam Beasley: So many memories in this old gym: Pretending to have PMS so I didn't have to play volleyball. Pretending to have PMS so I didn't have to play basketball. [pause] Those were the days.

New Years Eve

I had a VERY good New Year's Eve last night. The best in a very long time. I started the night out with going out to eat with some girls from my ward, Krystale, Katie, and Megan (different one. I am not talking about myself :)) We went to a pretty fancy restaurant for Sushi. It was my first time trying sushi and I was a little nervous, but they made it sound so good, so I was willing to try. I didn't know anything about eating sushi and anyone around us could probably tell by how I was eating it and stuff. But it was actually a lot better than I thought it was going to be, and maybe this makes me not a real sushi eater, but my favorite kind was the chicken. Haha It was really good! :) We had a lot of fun together trying new things. After that we went over to Sub Zero for some ice cream (mmm I love that place!). After ice cream I went over to my friend Cassie's to hit up her party she was having at her house. It was really nice to just sit back and relax and meet new people and play games. My final event of the evening was the Singles Dance at the stake center by the temple. It was a good, usual church dance thing. There wasn't a WHOLE BUNCH of people, but there was still a good amount. I had a lot of fun. I won't go into detail about everything that happened. If you want to know you will just have to ask me. :) But it was a great night and satisfied with my New Year's Eve. Happy 2009!

Michael Scott:Okay. Today is the big day that I am heading to New York to attend a party, with sushi and important people. On an unrelated note, if anyone has an anecdote, that is not boring and easy to memorize please drop by my office before I leave. Thank you.

Jim Halpert:Whoops. Is that what Ryan really wanted you to tell us?

Michael Scott:And... today the Dunder Mifflin Infinity website launches.

Rag Quilt

The past couple of months I have been working on my very first Rag Quilt. I have made quilts before, but this was my first Rag Quilt. I first saw them with Haylee when we were in a material store and I thought they were really cool looking. So I had a bunch of material, so I decided to try and make one! There was a lot of trial and error, trying to get the measurements right, and the right amount of squares, and sewing them together correctly, but at the end it turned out so much better than I thought! I decided to give it to my mom for Christmas since it was my first one. I will definitely be making more in the future cause they are a lot of fun, but take a whole lot of time. I wanted it to be twice as big as I made it but I ran out of time. So here are a couple pictures of the finished product and I can't wait to get started on my next one!

[determining how to demonstrate depression]
Dwight Schrute:Visual aids.
Michael Scott:Yes.
Dwight Schrute:A quilt. A depression quilt.
Michael Scott:No time to sew a quilt.
