Life has been CRAZY since we brought Lyla home from the hospital. I am so behind with blogging, and I need to get it done before I forget things that I want to remember! Her first month was busy, fun, stressful, and awesome all at the same time. :) I was a little nervous once all our visitors left and Chris went back to work cause it was just going to be me and Lyla most of the time. I was scared I wouldn't know how to take care of her and just be a terrible mother. But, fortunately things have just worked themselves out and I am loving my life as a mommy.
About 9 days after she was born her eye got really red and swollen with lots of pus coming out of it. We took her to the doctor and found out it was a clogged tear duct. It made me so sad seeing her like that. The doctor gave us some ointment to rub on her eye, but I found out that squirting breastmilk in her eye was a lot more effective. It cleared up in 2 days!
She is a pretty good sleeper during the day. She loves her naps. Night is a different story. We have good days and bad days. I have been trying to get her in a good routine and try to help her sleep better at night, but of course everyday is different and sometimes it doesn't go like I would like. Hopefully it will all even out, right? :)
We are so in love with our little girl. We are having so much fun watching her grow and seeing her personality come out. She absolutely hates baths and riding in the car. She screams so loud you would think we were torturing her! haha I am hoping that changes as she gets a little older.
I got her newborn photos done when she was about 11 days old, and it was so much fun! It was really cool to see how they are done. They definitely take a long time to do (it took about 3 hours for hers), with lots of calming her down, and moving very slowly to keep her asleep and relaxed. But she did great and I love how her pictures turned out!
Here she is at 1 Month! Now I have more week till she turns 2 months and have to do another post! Hopefully I will be more on top of things for that one. :)
We had some fun visitors right after Lyla was born! My mom flew in the day she was born and was able to stay for a week to help out. And she was a HUGE help to us. I was so grateful to have her here with us for that first week with Lyla home. She bought us a bunch of groceries, helped clean and organize the apartment, and made our meals. I loved it. That first night we were home, my mom even took care of her all night so we could get some sleep. That was so awesome! That's when we found out that Lyla liked to sleep in the corner of our couch. We have an L shaped couch, and she liked to be swaddled and set right in that corner of the couch. There have been many nights since then when she is extra fussy, I take her out there and set her in the corner while I sleep on the end of the couch.

A couple days after we came home, Bethany came to visit with her 3 boys! It was so nice. Doug had just left to do his Residency Auditions for medical school, and so Beth was taking some time to do some traveling and visiting family. She drove here from Colorado after visiting Doug's family. They were so much fun. The boys LOVED Lyla. They wanted to hold her all the time, and it was so cute.
We were able to take them over to Chris's parents house where they got to ride their horse, and also ride on the little cart that's pulled by one of their miniature horses. The boys had so much fun. It was too bad that it was so windy out, but it was like the boys didn't even notice. They had the biggest smiles on their faces as they rode around. I loved watching them. After that we all went to Cocoa Bean to get some cupcakes and ice cream to celebrate all the August birthdays we have in the family: Jared, Esther, Beth, and Lyla. Boy do I love me some Cocoa Bean!
While they were here, we also took them over to Leo's Place. It's a big place that has a bunch of arcade games, laser tag, and a huge play place for the kids to run around in. We had some yummy pizza, Mom took the boys to play some games who picked out some candy with their prize tickets.
Bethany and I were able to go to the beauty supply store together which is always fun for me. :) Sometimes I wish I had a million dollars so I can buy lots of fun hair and nail stuff.
I loved having my family here. They were a big help with Lyla and we always have so much fun. Just wish we lived closer so we can all see each other more than once or twice a year!
