Time is FLYING

I decided to quickly get a post written while Lyla is sleeping. Hopefully its long enough so I can finish it! :) Life is great, but time is flying by! I can't believe it's almost the end of March and we will be in April soon. April means Easter! I gotta get busy planning my baby's first Easter. :) I already got her Easter dress which is pretty cute I think! Once April is over then we are heading to Vegas in May for Doug's graduation from Medical School! I can't believe it's been 4 years already. I am so proud of him. Then they will be moving to Kansas City, MO for his Residency for 5 years. They will be so far away!! Thank goodness for Facebook, Instagram, Texting, and Face Time so I can still see my sister and her sweet family. We might just have to take a trip out there too. :) Chris served his mission in St. Louis, MO which I don't think is too far from Kansas City? It would be fun to visit there.

About 6 weeks ago we moved into Chris's grandma's house while we is away on a mission. We have LOVED it! It's so nice to have a little more room. Lyla can be sleeping upstairs and we can be in the basement watching TV not worrying about waking her. :) It's definitely preparing us for when we get our own house. All the things you don't have to do in an apartment. Lawn care, sprinkler systems, propane for fireplaces, water softening, and more cleaning. Haha But I am looking forward to the get-togethers we will have this summer on the back deck, barbequing, and trying my hands on our first garden! It will be so fun.

Chris turned 30 last month! He really didn't want to, and was kind of sad about it. :) I wish I had done some better planning for a better celebration, but we were all just getting over being sick, we had just moved, and we do love just hanging out at home. Chris's parents and our friend Dan came over and we ate pizza, had cake that I made (which didn't look very good, it was falling apart as I was trying to frost it), and played cards! It was still a really fun night!
The day after Chris's birthday was Valentine's Day! We wanted to get dinner from Texas Roadhouse and just relax at home. I went over to Esther and Jared's after work since they were watching Lyla while I worked. Chris met me there so we could go get some dinner. But then Esther and Jared told us they wanted to take Lyla overnight for us so we could have a night alone and get a good nights sleep! I was so excited for that! I couldn't remember when I had gotten more than a 4 hour block of sleep. So we took them up on their offer, made sure Lyla had everything she needed, and went on our way! Chris brought me some beautiful flowers (which I didn't get a picture of, of course). We went to Texas Roadhouse. They told us it would be an hour wait. We decided to go to the bar to order some takeout, but when we got there we saw 2 seats open at the bar so we decided to just sit at the bar and eat. We got to go right in and eat without the hour wait! It was great. Chris was worried it wasn't "romantic enough", but I was just excited to be at a restaurant and have a nice relaxing dinner without having to take turns eating while the other takes care of Lyla. :) We went home and had a GOOD nights sleep. I woke up a couple times worried there was something wrong with Lyla since I hadn't heard her crying, but then remembered she was ok and went back to sleep. Haha We were so grateful! Thank you Esther and Jared for that gift. Here are some random photos:

Another fun thing that happened this past month, was we bought a new car! Well, new to us. :) Both of us had old cars, there was always something wrong with one of them needing to be repaired. I was tired of putting all that money into car repairs, and we needed a better car to be able to travel in since we didn't trust either one to go further than Pocatello in. We spent a couple weeks driving around looking at dealerships, browsing KSL and craigslist. We test drove a Camry, Malibu, Highlander, Equinox, and Rav4. We wanted something with a little more room and comfy. We wanted the Equinox we test drove, but since it was such a good deal we missed out on it. But then we found this car at the dealership owned by a couple in Esther and Jared's ward! When we first saw it, Chris DID NOT want to look at it. They told us to just go check it out since we wanted a SUV. Grudgingly Chris followed me over to it, we got in and drove it around town. We were HOOKED! It was so comfy and spacious! We had never heard of the model before, but it was just what we needed. We bought it that day!                                             Our 2007 Ford Freestyle

What's Up

2013 was a great year for us! Chris had surgery to remove his tonsils and fix his deviated septum, he also had a root canal done, and I had a Basal Cell Carcinoma spot removed on my neck. We also had our sweet Lyla! Lots of medical procedures done, but thanks to awesome insurance from Chris's job, it saved us thousands and thousands of dollars. :)

We enjoyed living in our apartment. It has been a really good spot to live. So close to Chris's work, 2 blocks from the temple and our church building, and walking distance from the river. We didn't do many walks around the river as I would have liked. That's one of my favorite things to do! But being pregnant this summer, it was so difficult to even get out of bed some days. Haha

Our days are filled with work and taking care of  Lyla. Chris is still loving his job at ISU. I am working 2 half days at the salon and 2 half days at The Apple.
Lyla will be 6 months old on Friday! I can't believe how fast she is growing. She can roll over onto her tummy from her back, but hasn't figured out how to get back on her back. When she rolls on her tummy she tries so hard kicking her legs trying to crawl. She gets so frustrated cause she doesn't go anywhere! :) But that's ok cause I am not ready for her to crawl yet. She is going to be a busy bee once she figures it out!

Chris and I got an awesome opportunity to move into his grandma's house in a couple weeks while she goes on a mission! So for the next 18 months we will be living there. It will be nice to have a little more room and no rent! We will still pay for utilities, but we will be able to work on getting some debt paid off and that will be awesome. :) We move in February 6th! That's in like 3 days, and I have done like no packing. There are a few boxes in the corner I have done, but that's about it. We don't have that much stuff really so it might be ok to leave it till the day before.

The past month I have been really trying to lose some weight. When I was pregnant with Lyla I gained about 40 pounds. :( Right after I delivered her I was down about 20, but then a couple months later I gained 10 pounds back somehow! It could have been the ice cream I was eating every day.....I was just worried about dieting cause I didn't want to lose my milk. But I figured out how many calories I needed to sustain that, and was still able to lose weight! So since January 3rd I am down 6 lbs and 7 1/2 inches. I am also using Taislim to help me lose as well. Their meal replacement shakes are delicious! The best ones I have ever tried. Their chewy Skinnys help control my appetite and the Taislim juice helps stop cravings and gives me energy! And with that energy I am working out more which makes my body feel great as well as my mind. I need exercise to help me stay sane and not get depressed. :) I love my Lyla, but having a baby can definitely mess with your mental state big time. So I am trying to control that. I have felt so much better these last few weeks that I have taken control of myself and I gotta keep going cause I have a ways to go to get where I ultimately want to be.

The Holidays

It's been too long since I had posted. Life has been crazy and I really need to stay up on it. It's hard since I have an iPhone now, I just use that instead of the laptop, so I never get out the laptop to blog. But I have some time now! We got a bunch of snow last night so Chris is out pushing snow and Lyla is taking a nap.

Speaking of naps, we are going through a little bit of a sleep regression right now. She used too sleep so good! But the past week or so, it takes forever to get her to go down, she only sleeps about half the time she used to or not at all! Some days she goes all day without napping. I don't know how she does it! So then at night she doesn't sleep well, and she is always up by 6am. Ugh. I hope it passes quickly and she goes back to her sleep loving self. :)
Lyla is now 4 1/2 months old! She is growing way too fast. She is happy about 90% of the time. She loves her exercauser, she is getting more used to the car (we have had many quiet car rides lately~ Yay!). She loves to laugh and move all around. If she is awake, she is moving! She hates to just sit still. :) A couple nights ago, she even started rolling over! I laid her on the living room floor and she was all over the place! I tried to get a video, but every time I would she would stop. So one day soon I will get one and post.

Lyla weighs 13lbs 10oz now, and makes me laugh every single day. I just love her!

I can't believe Christmas is next week! It has come so fast. Life is just flying by. Thanksgiving was nice. We went to Esther and Jared's house. Sarah and Steven came into town. We ate a bunch of yummy food, took a nap, and watched Man of Steel. I also went and saw Hunger Games TWICE! Haha I went with Esther and Sarah a couple days before Thanksgiving, and then Chris and I went with Stephanie and Lyndon a couple days after when they came into town. It was so good! I  loved it.

We got family pictures done while everyone was home together. It was a chilly day but Lyla did pretty well!

The Christmas tree is up. I am finished with my shopping (which is amazing since I usually still have some shopping to do on Christmas Eve! :), I made some cute stockings this year which I am pretty proud of myself for doing.

We had our ward Christmas party last weekend which Chris and I got to help plan, and Lyla got to meet Santa! :) I was surprised how well she did! It was a nice party. Yummy food and good company.

Family Photos

Our cousin Laura was so kind and did our Family photos for us this year. I was loving all the pretty colors in the trees and wanted some pictures before all the leaves fell off and the snow started coming in! So a few Saturdays ago she met us at the park near our apartment and took some photos of us. Lyla wasn't too excited about it, but luckily we were able to get some taken before she got too upset :)

And I know you probably saw this on Facebook, but I love the Pinterest comparison I did of the one pose I wanted done. It definitely didn't turn out how I thought it would, but I think I like it even better this way :)

Month 3

Well it looks like I am down to only blogging once a month. Blah. I wish I was better at it so I can remember all that happens each month, so hopefully I can remember everything that has happened this past month. But first off, I want to say that my baby girl is 3 months old now! I can't believe how time is flying by. She is getting so big and interacting more and more each day. It's so fun!
October was a busy month. Chris worked the evening shift from 1pm to 10pm, so I had a lot of quiet evenings. Lyla goes down about 7pm, so I had a few hours to myself. I have watched a lot of Super Nanny, browsed thebump.com and pinterest, and baked zucchini bread. :) But I am glad he has finished that and he doesn't have to do it during the holidays like last year.

I went to the dermatologist last month to get a spot on my neck checked out. It was a spot that I thought it was some sore, but it never healed. It kept bleeding and got bigger. So it ended up being a Basal Cell spot. So I went in and had it removed a couple weeks ago. It's nice to have that gone, cause it bugged me everyday!
Halloween was fun. The day before Halloween was our ward's Trunk or Treat that I really wanted to take Lyla to, but unfortunately that day she would not nap for the life of her, and by the time 6pm came and I had her all dressed up in her costume, she was the fussiest, maddest baby ever, so I decided to put her to bed instead. :( I am glad I at least got a picture of us! Haha

Halloween night I took Lyla to Chris's cousins house Tyson and Laura and hung out with them and their kids. We ate dinner, I got to see their girls in their cute costumes, and we got to just sit and visit while waiting for trick or treaters to come to their door. And Lyla was really good which made the night even better. :)
Lyla has continued to grow so fast every day. She is laughing more and more. Talking louder and louder. She definitely knows who her mommy and daddy are. She is loving her little exersaucer. She can't quite jump in it yet, but she loves being in the upright position and will move the toys to make the music start and the lights light up.
I love the faces she makes sometimes. She is my sweet, cute girl!
