Last weekend my mother in law threw me an awesome baby shower. She went all out, and everything looked so cute! The guests were family members and members from her ward since we lived with them for a year, and got to know the people in her ward pretty well.
The decorations were so adorable with lots and lots of PINK! :)
She made lots of yummy food to snack on, which I totally did all night long. Pretty sure I drank half of what was in the punch bowl all by myself! :) We had deviled eggs, cowboy caviar with chips, meatballs, cream puffs, cheesecake bites, sliced baguettes with cucumbers, and of course the yummy punch!
We played a game that was all about me where we got to see who knew me the best. And I will be honest, I didn't even know some of the answers to those questions! Thankfully the people there knew me better than myself and was able to help me out. Haha
Everyone who came was so generous in their gifts and baby girl Allen got totally spoiled! She received lots and lots of cute clothes and pj's, headbands, blankets, a baby monitor, bath sets, diapers, books, and Esther and Jared even got us a travel system! She is going to look pretty cute in all her new stuff.
I wish I would have taken more pictures of the night and the people that were there. I did get this one of me and cousin Melissa. :)
But thank you Esther for all your hard work and giving me such a fun night!
Well the baby is now the size of a Cantaloupe! I just keep getting bigger and bigger everyday, and my wardrobe is getting smaller and smaller. :)
I have definitely been experiencing the common symptoms at this time, including lower back pain, swelling, I get out of breath very easily, and lots of heartburn and indigestion.
Baby actually looks like a baby now, and I have been feeling her so much more each day. Mostly in the mornings when I am first waking up, and then at night when we are lying on the couch watching TV. I am still waiting to be able to feel the kicks from the outside so Chris can feel her too, but that hasn't happened yet. Boo :( Hopefully soon!
I started going to the Prenatal Yoga class they have at the hospital Thursday nights, and it was great! It was cool to be around a bunch of other pregnant girls and have a good workout. I definitely felt better afterwards and I think if I keep going I won't have as much back pain.
Everything else is going great. Work has been really busy and we have been having fun getting our nursery ready and just enjoying this time.
One more week and I get to go to Vegas! I am so excited for the little break, get to some warmer weather, and spend some time with my sister. We are going to make lots of cute headbands for baby and just have fun. :)
It's been a couple weeks since I have posted, so I thought while I am sitting here waiting for this heartburn to pass and watching Saved By The Bell on Netflix, I would catch up! Easter was last week and it was great! We went to church and taught our cute little 5 year olds, showing them a video about the Resurrection. I was so tired because the night before I could not fall asleep! It was probably 5am before I could sleep. Insomnia, heartburn, and Chris's snoring did not help one bit. So, I was not in the mood to prepare a big lesson. Good thing a movie and a coloring page could keep their attention for the hour. :) We also gave them a little plastic egg with some candy in them. They were sure excited about that! After church we went over to Chris's parents house for dinner. We ate a yummy steak dinner with mashed potatoes and salad while watching The Amazing Race. What a perfect Easter! :)
Another exciting happening the past couple weeks was our doctor's appointment! We had our Anatomy Scan at this appointment and it was so cool. Esther also came so she could see the baby with us. Everything went really well. She had all her organs and parts and looking really good! I loved seeing her move all around. Oh that reminds me, she was still a SHE! So that was very exciting. My favorite part was in one of her profile shots, we could see her drinking in there. So cute to see her little mouth open and watch her swallow.
The doctor said my belly was growing right on track and measuring right where I should be. She said the baby was a little small, about a little over a week behind. But they didn't change my due date, and maybe I will just have small babies! :) That's ok with me! She also told Chris to make sure I rest more and drink more water. Apparently my amniotic fluid can't get get any lower or I could be put on bed rest. Definitely don't want that!
Conference this past weekend was awesome. It was so nice to spend 2 days in my pj's, lounging around the house, and listening to the Prophet. It was so relaxing and it's always nice to get little reminders on what I need to improve in my life. I just wish it was more than just twice a year! I also wish that these next 3 weeks go by fast cause I am going to Vegas at the end of the month! Yay!
Well, today I turned 20 weeks! Our little peanut is halfway done cooking and I can't believe it! It feels like time is flying by. I have been feeling a whole lot better, pretty much no morning sickness, and a lot more energy. I actually went to the gym last night and worked out! I couldn't remember the last time I did that. :) It felt awesome even though I was pretty sore today.
Baby is growing bigger and making me a lot more hungry! Some days I feel like I am eating all day long. Heartburn has increased a lot, Tums are my new best friend.
Baby Stats:
*Baby is the size of a banana now. Or a canteloupe. Different websites say different things. :)
*I am feeling her more and more each day. Mostly at night. Lots of little flutters in my belly!
*Food I can't eat: oatmeal, spaghetti sauce, chinese food.
*It's starting to get harder to stand up or get out of bed super fast. My balance isn't too great.
*She is 10 inches long and weighs about 10 1/2 ounces.
*I have gained about 12 pounds total so far.
I have bought some more maternity clothes which has definitely helped me breathe better and feel more comfy. Our next appointment is April 3rd where we will have our Anatomy Scan and get to see our little girl again! And make sure she is still a girl. haha :) Which I hope she is cause I have started to put pink in the nursery!
I bought some super cute sheets for our crib from Target that I love. I found a brand new crib mattress off craigslist for $20. And I made a pillow for some decor. I will make a few smaller ones too.
And I bought a cute little baby hammock! I am loving these awesome deals I have been finding on craigslist. :)
I am so excited to go to Vegas in 5 weeks! It will be so fun to get away and have a little vacay before baby comes. I will get to go play with my sister and her cute family, and enjoy some nicer weather! It's getting pretty depressing as I sit here and look out the window to see a bunch of snow falling down. :( I can't wait till Summer!
Well, today we went in for an early Gender Check! I am 17 weeks this week and have been feeling great. We went in to the Ultrasound Tech and she got my belly all jellied up! At first our baby was rolled up in a tight ball, so I was afraid that we wouldn't be able to figure out the sex. So she tilted me back a little, with my head down and my feet up in the air a bit. And then wiggled my belly around to get that baby moving! :) See how rolled up she is?? HAHA
And luckily, the baby moved just enough so we could get a peek and found out it was a GIRL!!
That's the feeling that Chris and I have had so far, that we were going to have a girl. Chris has been hoping for a girl all along. For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to have a boy first, but I am loving the idea of a girl. :) So I am getting super excited to add some pink to the nursery! It was also great to hear the heartbeat again. I sure do love that sound. We also got some great pictures of our little one. It definitely looked more like a baby this time. :) This one is my favorite with her feet all up in the air.
When we went in to see the doctor after that, she was checking the heart rate again and our little baby kept kicking it! It was the funniest thing. But the doctor said I was right on track and doing great, so that made us very happy to hear. :)
Today I turned 16 weeks. I can't believe it's already been 4 months! Time is just flying by :)
As far as how I am feeling, the "morning sickness" has gone WAY down. I am no longer feeling nauseous all day long. It's mostly just when I need to eat. If I drink any liquids before eating breakfast then I will throw that up. So I try to avoid that and make sure I eat real food first thing. I am still tired all the time and my body is pretty achy most of the time. But I have definitely gotten a lot of my energy back which is great! Now I need to anchor that energy towards working out. I have been a huge slacker, but I want to be so much better.
According to my weekly emails, my baby:
*Is the size of an Avocado
*Can hear my voice now
*Taste buds are forming
*Its eyelashes, eyebrows, and hair are filling in
*Moving like crazy, though I have yet to feel anything
I have ordered a few maternity clothing items (a pair of jeans, black leggings, and a couple tops). I am sure I will start wearing them soon cause my jeans have gotten to be very uncomfortable. :)
I have also been busy trying to get the nursery ready. There's so much to do and I don't get a lot of free time, so I gotta start early! We got the crib all set up (now we just gotta get a mattress)
I lined our bookcase with cute scrapbook paper:
And I started making curtains but don't have a picture of those yet cause I am not done. I ran out of bobbin in my sewing machine and can't remember how to fill it back up. I might end up sewing the rest by hand.....haha we will see how that goes.
We had a couple celebrations this past week! Chris turned 29 on February 13th! It was a great day. He got off work at 8am that day (he goes into work 5am) and I was already off since I don't work Wednesdays. :) So we got to spend the whole day together! We met his parents for lunch at The Great Wall, which is a Chinese buffet here in town. It was really fun. Ate lots of yummy food and had some good laughs. His mom told me all about the day he was born, which was cool cause I love to hear baby delivery stories right now! Lets me know what I am going look forward to soon. :)

After lunch they came to our apartment where we played card games together and I had made a cake, so we ate that with ice cream. And it was a good time! After they left, we just spent the rest of the day relaxing at home. I love it when I don't have to do anything at all! We got some Jack in the Box for dinner, and I had rented Perks of Being a Wallflower, so we watched that too. That was an interesting movie. Probably not what he wanted to watch on his birthday, but he was a good sport since I had wanted to see it. :)

Valentines Day was great as well. We both worked a full day like normal. Then I headed home, and Chris wasn't there yet, so I got ready to go out that night. When I was all ready, Chris picked me up with some valentine's balloons and cupcakes! He sure knows how to make me happy :) We then headed over to Texas Roadhouse for dinner! It was a good thing cause I had been craving steak all day long! Chris dropped me off so I could go check in, and he headed to the movie theater since it was in the same parking lot and picked up our movie tickets to Safe Haven! When I walked in the door, I could barely even get in! There were TONS of people. Good thing we had called ahead cause we barely had to wait 10 minutes for our table, and there were people who had been there an hour and still waiting to be seated! Last year we attempted to go to Cafe Rio right before our movie thinking it wouldn't be too bad, but after a half hour of waiting in line, we hadn't even made it up to the front so we had to go over to Taco Bell and get some tacos to take into our movie with us :) So we definitely planned better this year.
We went to the movie theater after we ate where Chris's parents met us to watch the movie with us. We only had to wait 10 minutes in line till they let us go find our seats. The movie was SO GOOD! I had read the book a few months ago. I love reading books that get turned into movies, and see how close they are to it. But I definitely recommend seeing it!
And of course I have to add a little bit about the baby :) I have been feeling MUCH MUCH better this past week. I am 15 weeks now and feeling great. 2 more weeks till we find out whether it's a boy or a girl! My nausea has gone WAY down and am actually enjoying eating more! Yay! I am also starting to show more, and I think it's time to buy some maternity clothes cause I can barely button my pants! :)
